Maleventum is a library inspired by medieval forges and Viking horns. We’ve dedicated ourselves to an in-depth exploration of the cinematic sound of epic war horns from ancient Scandinavian and Celtic cultures, from carnix to gjallarhorn and bukkeorn.
We have recorded a huge number of original medieval horn instruments, classic orchestral trombone and tuba, traditional flutes, horn instruments from pastoral traditions throughout Europe and even homemade horns and trumpets. All have been processed and layered on top of each other to create a collection of epic sounds, hunting horn sounds, war horns, brass low-pitched sounds, high-pitched trumpets, animal screams and more.
Every sound and every instrument contained in Maleventum instantly conjures up scenes from forgotten dark ages, Viking armies and wars, epic ancient battles, vast frozen landscapes, mystical pagan cults and supernatural beings soaring in the breeze of northern forests.
Maleventum is for TV, film and game composers and sound engineers looking for unique, elaborate sounds to enrich their compositions. It is particularly well suited to the epic genre, especially fantasy and dark age films.
