Test Press – Serum 2 Ultimate Reese (Serum2 PRESET, Wav, MIDI)

Test Press raises the bar again with “Serum 2 Ultimate Reese Collection”. We’ve done the unthinkable: we’ve studied and recreated every Reese bassline with pinpoint accuracy, then packed it all into one preset pack for Serum 2. There’s nothing else like it on the market. We’ve studied in detail the different types of Reese basslines used in electronic music ever since Kevin “Reese” Saunderson released his iconic hit “Just Want Another Chance”.
We also want to give a huge thank you to everyone who’s created music with that iconic sound. There are so many producers that it’s impossible to list them all;
however, we’ve listed a few of our favorites below:
Rhythm Is Rhythm (Derrick May) – Strings of Life (1987)
Reese & Santonio – Just Want Another Chance (1988)
Inner City – Good Life (1988)
Renegade (Ray Keith) – Terrorist (1994)
Dillinja – Hard Noize (1995)
DJ Zinc – Super Sharp Shooter (1995)
Josh Wink – Higher State of Consciousness (Tweekin Acid Funk) (1995)
Green Velvet – Flash (1995)
Source Direct – A Made Up Sound (1996)
Trace – Sonar (1997)
Ed Rush & Optical – Bacteria (1998)
Bad Company UK – The Nine (1998)
Noisia – Stigma (2007)
We’ve also provided a selection of samples and MIDI files.
The bassline is a classic sound widely used in drum ‘n’ bass, jungle, house, techno, and dubstep, known for its dense, detuned, and evolving low-frequency growl. The Reese (named after Kevin “Reese” Saunderson, who used it in the 1988 track “Just Want Another Chance”) is a detuned, layered bass sound, typically created by layering multiple slightly detuned oscillators. We’ve designed each preset to utilize all of Serum 2’s parameters and be as intuitive as possible.
Note : Each preset gives you creative control over shaping the sound and fine-tuning it for a specific part of your production. The presets also utilize all four macro parameters. The presets in this pack can also be used across all genres of electronic music, including house, techno, bass, trap/hip-hop, and more. Please note that the included samples for each preset represent just one example of how to manipulate sound using automation parameters.
