Crust & Smash
Two main controls define the Loc-Ness’s sound. Crust passes the signal through one of four carefully modeled analog saturation circuits, adding harmonic nuances—from soft warmth to crunchy overdrive. Smash feeds this rich signal into a limiter/compressor, which adds a thicker, fuller sound—inspired by the aggressive character of legendary vintage broadcast limiters, but smoother, more musical, and far more controllable.

Pre- and Post-Filters:
Surgical, frequency-based processing sets Loc-Ness apart. Pre-filters let you isolate the exact frequency band you want to saturate and compress without affecting the rest. Post-filters shape the final result, which is especially useful when mixing wet and dry signals.
Pre-High Pass Filter (20–500 Hz): Rolls off low frequencies before saturation to avoid muddiness
Pre-High Pass Filter (3–20 kHz): Attenuates high frequencies before they are boosted in Crust
Post-Transcription High Pass Filter (20–800 Hz): Shapes the low frequencies of the processed signal
Post-Transcription Low Pass Filter (1–20 kHz): Smooths out harsh high frequencies in the final output
