Orchestral innovation inspired by a legend . Spitfire’s first stage ensemble with dry scores, inspired by the eclectic genius of Bernard Herrmann. Known for his innovative scores for Citizen Kane, Psycho, Vertigo and Taxi Driver, he continues to inspire composers today.
We worked exclusively with the estate of Bernard Herrmann to curate and assemble a unique selection of studio orchestral ensembles based directly on the composer’s legendary orchestral aesthetic.
Recorded in Studio One, AIR Studios by renowned engineer Simon Rhodes (Avatar, Spectre, Harry Potter, There Will Be Blood), we capture the players performing the way Herrmann would have wanted: loud, lively and candid, with patches featuring select bands, unusual instrumental combinations, chords, effects and more. Take advantage of this versatile toolkit for dynamic and unique scoring.
The “advanced” folder includes over 30 synth patches inspired by Herrmann’s use of synthesizers combined with orchestral material. They can be controlled using the Mercury Synth GUI.
It’s an ingenious user interface that allows you to have instant fun without having to roll up your sleeves or look under the Kontakt hood. All controls can be assigned to your control panel, giving you the immediate opportunity to make our sounds your own.
