Latin Cuban Percussion EZX was conceived as a percussive addition to Latin Cuban Drums EZX and includes a collection of the most common percussion instruments used in a wide variety of music, sorted into categories: conga, timbala, bongos, gyros, shakers, woodcuts, bells and more. It was recorded alongside its EZX counterpart at renowned New York’s Sear Sound Studios by Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated engineer Dave Kowalski and sampled by undoubtedly one of the world’s most sought-after percussionists, Richie Flores.
Born in Brooklyn but raised in Puerto Rico, Richie began his career as a professional percussionist at age 13 and was the youngest musician ever to travel with the band outside of Puerto Rico. Since then, he has played with some of the most famous performers of Latin American music, performed on several Grammy-winning recordings, and continued to perfect his musical voice.
Where the drums paint the bigger picture and act like a rhythmic heartbeat, then percussion fills in the gaps and ensures that all the vibrant colors and distinctive Latin accents shine through ad infinitum. Simply put, in Latin music, percussion is as important to the groove as the groove itself.
