Baritone guitar sound is not something that can be achieved by simply tuning a standard guitar to one-fourth. Lower string tension results in a thin sound and a lack of stability, not to mention problematic tuning drift where notes start abruptly and flatten out as they decay.
Baritone guitars solve this problem with a longer scale that not only solves the tuning problem, but also provides more hearty sustain and a fuller tone.
In addition to the extra-long scale, the guitar we recorded for Evolution Baritone Electric featured lipstick-style pickups, a unique type of single-coil pickup known for its articulated, glassy sound.
Their naturally scooped mids make lipstick pickups the perfect match for baritone guitars, softening dirt, delivering clean bass response and crisp highs. We recorded the bridge and neck pickups as separate signals that can be mixed together to produce a wide range of tones, from classic bridge pickup to warm woody neck pickup.
We developed the library in partnership with Rosewood Recording Company, one of the most respected recording studios in Utah. Guy Randle, owner and recording engineer at the Rosewood Recording Company, incorporated analog audio equipment to expertly sculpt and emphasize the rich tonal qualities of the baritone guitar. Evolution Baritone Electric includes both a recorded signal and an amplified signal that can be mixed to your liking.
Evolution Baritone Electric is based on our Evolution engine, which provides you with a variety of uses: a flexible display system, chords and playing patterns, and a vast collection of built-in effects for ready-to-mix baritone guitar tones.
The library includes many ready-to-use factory presets for a variety of classic and modern baritone guitar tones, from classic tremolo and vibrant spring reverbs to dreamy, ambient soundscapes. Not to mention the legendary Nashville tick-tock sound, the layering of upright bass and palm-muted baritone guitar (or Bass VI).
