Dan Korneff managed to buy a WOW Thing fifteen years ago, and it became an integral part of his guitar processing. However, he wanted to use it for background vocals and reverb, and the original units are hard to come by. So he recreated it, and it’s now available as a plugin.
Think of WOW Thing as an acoustic hug: when you need sound to extend beyond the usual stereo field, WOW Thing is the answer.

Simple controls make it easy to add space to your stereo recordings: just turn the WOW knob.
Any stereo source connected via the WOW Thing extends beyond the speakers. At extreme settings, the WOW Thing adds so much psychoacoustic motion and chaos that you might even get motion sickness! That’s how extreme this effect is.
TrueBass is a bass booster that adds depth and bass to your tracks. Add a little bit of this feature to make the sound richer, or increase it for unique low-frequency effects.
Beyond the Original
It wouldn’t be a Korneff Audio plugin without some extra settings.
Press the nameplate to “remove” the cover and access features not found on the original device.
Choose from two different WOW effects. Choose TYPE 1 for the sound effects of the original desktop unit, or TYPE 2 for the enhancement algorithms of the little-known SRS Megawide rackmount unit.
The Korneff Audio WOW Thing also features frequency selection for the TrueBass processor. Use this feature to tailor the low frequencies to your material and mix. This feature alone makes the Korneff Audio WOW Thing much more versatile.
