The graceful catharsis of golden-age EDM lives on. Since we commissioned Frost Children (siblings Angel and Lulu Prost) to create this compilation in 2023, they’ve released three albums and toured the world almost constantly. In two short years, they’ve covered everything from electro to emo to indie rock to pure pop, but their latest album, “SISTER,” is a return to the sounds that first excited them, a bold revival of the EDM era in their most candid and intense statement of identity to date. As Lulu says, “It’s what we so confidently love and breathe.” “SISTERSTEP” is a cross-section of SISTER’s sonic identity: the technical formulas of the 2010s EDM arms race festival, dismantled and rebuilt to evoke genuine emotion. In a world where cheap revivals can become aesthetic shields, the sincerity with which the duo performs on the main stage runs far deeper than just a trend cycle. Moombahton, big room, and progressive trance serve as reference points, but do not define the main thesis.
