Grime began as the edgier brother of British garage, initially emerging from pirate radio and underground internet stations in and around London in the early 2000s.

Lately, with MCs like Wiley, Stormzy, Skepta and Dizzee Rascal thrust into the spotlight, grime has taken over the pond, attracting more and more American listeners.
