Scarbee Classic EP-88s has more samples, more dynamics and more keys – 88 of them! (compared to Scarbee Mark 1) Anyone who has tried to restore a tool like this knows that the lowest and highest octaves take as much time as the rest of the keys combined – this is a real battle where you need a lot of patience, a lot of spare parts and a bit of luck too.
We wanted to get the maximum possible shutter speed for each key, the perfect tone balance. There are stronger hits (compared to Scarbee Mark 1), as well as softer ones.
We spend a huge amount of time cleaning the samples from noise – each sample went through four stages, where the last two were made manually. The reason for this was the fact that we wanted to be able to offer presets with the extreme settings of the high-frequency equalizer without unnecessary noise and without damage to any part of the recording.
