On May 27, 2025, Waves Audio unveiled ILLUGEN , an innovative text-based sound generation tool. This revolutionary approach to creating samples, loops, and sound effects allows musicians and sound designers to realize their ideas without the limitations of traditional libraries.
What is ILLUGEN ?
ILLUGEN is a desktop app that uses artificial intelligence to transform text descriptions into unique audio files. Unlike standard sample packs, ILLUGEN generates original sounds from scratch, based solely on your imagination.
How does it work?
- Enter a text query: Describe the scene, mood, or idea, for example:
- “Hypnotic ritual in the jungle”
- “Zombies playing a synthesizer”
- “Broken radio in space”
- Choose a category: One-shot, Loop, or SFX
- Get three options: ILLUGEN will generate three unique sounds based on your query.
- Import to your DAW: Drag and drop your favorite option directly into your DAW.
Sound generation is available only with a subscription!
Installation
The distribution includes three patch types: the old License Engine (Intel only), the new Guiseppe 15.9 , and Waves Ultimate 2025.3-VR . All installation instructions are included within the distribution.
There are no differences in installation from previous distributions!
