FinalPlug combines a pre-peak limiter and an ITU BS.1770 loudness metering system. FinalPlug can be used as an insert effect, providing gain limiting or volume maximization, or it can be placed at the end of the mastering chain to ensure your audio meets volume requirements and true peak performance.
FinalPlug’s interface couldn’t be simpler. When used as a volume maximizer, select the desired maximum output level, say -0.1 dB, and then adjust the threshold level. By decreasing the threshold value, you increase the volume.
To meet loudness standards and true peak values, select the “Analyze” preset and then select target loudness options. This will adjust the built-in volume levels and true peak values. Then replay the session. Built-in volume levels and true peak values are displayed during music playback and will be colored orange if they exceed preset levels.
At the end of playback, press “MATCH”. This allows you to configure the limiter parameters according to the specified parameters. Repeated playback of the session will allow you to achieve the desired built-in volume level without exceeding the true peak level.
