The Homestead Piano is a treasured family heirloom of Fracture Sounds founder Will Bedford. This vintage piano has accompanied Will on his journey into music and now, using his years of experience sampling some of the most sought after pianos on the sample library market, he has created a completely unique and special addition to our piano range.
Designed as a starting point for composers and songwriters, this inspiring piano has been captured in meticulous detail with an immersive selection of instruments and individual layers of ambience to tailor the sound to your preferences. Whether you are composing a soulful ballad or an evocative film score, this instrument offers subtle expressiveness to add intimacy and a warm sense of home to your music.
Captured in Meticulous Detail
Recorded in a dry and intimate space, every detail has been meticulously captured. A set of stereo pencil microphones above the deck and a spaced pair at the player position provide exceptional realism, making it easy to mix with other sample libraries using the built-in reverb options or external plugins.
Like a softer Woodchester Piano, every aspect of Homestead Piano has been captured, including the noise of the pedals, hammers, and even the player’s movements, enhancing the humanity of the samples.
Atmosphere Layers
Homestead Piano includes 9 new ambience layers created by the Fracture Sounds team. These layers process samples from the library or other sound sources such as strings to create sounds that go beyond what is possible in the real world. As you play, these layers shimmer stylistically in the background and can be controlled using the modulation wheel (CC1). You can mix, swap, and tweak them using the sliders and ambience layer menu.
Quickly turn on or experiment
As with all of our libraries, you can quickly dial in the sound you want or dive deeper with detailed controls. The Color EQ knob lets you adjust the brightness of the piano, making it stand out in dense compositions. The Timbre knob shifts the home key of the source samples, creating a softer, darker tone.
Like Spotlight Piano and Moonlight Celeste, Homestead Piano has detailed response controls that let you fully customize the playability of the piano with advanced velocity response graphs. We’ve split “Dynamics” into “Timbre” and “Volume” scaling for greater control. Timbre scaling lets you adjust the range and curve for triggering dynamic sample layers, while Volume scaling changes how the volume of notes responds to velocity.
