Air Music Technology originally created Xpand! as part of the Creative Collection, a suite of plug-ins for instruments included with Avid™ Pro Tools™. With the release of Pro Tools 8, this popular workstation received new controls, enhanced features, an additional gigabyte of sounds, and a new name: Xpand!2. As Pro Tools grew in popularity, more and more musicians and producers relied on the incredible sonic power of this incredible workstation. Xpand!2 continued to evolve, and demand for it grew. Finally, Xpand!2 is now available on its own, accessible to anyone who craves the best sounds—instantly.

Sounds Galore
Using everything from wavetables and FM synthesis to sample playback, Air Music Tech’s team of sound design experts has carefully crafted thousands of ready-to-use Xpand!2 patches. Creating your own is also easy. Patches are quickly browsed and conveniently organized into 29 categories, making it easy to find exactly what you need.
Smart Knobs and Easy Edits
Six intelligent knobs let you customize the sounds of Xpand!2. Each knob changes function depending on the selected part, providing direct control of the most important sonic elements. Select Easy mode, and all six knobs will simultaneously control all four common patch parts, allowing you to quickly make important changes. And, of course, all your changes can be saved for quick access.
Major Modulation:
Express yourself with powerful performance features! Pitch Bend wheel and Aftertouch modulation settings can be adjusted separately for each part. Modulation tempo can be synchronized to the part tempo or freely controlled. Multiple modulation directions are available, and WAVE direction parameters vary by part, giving Xpand!2 unique sound-shaping capabilities.
Advanced Arpeggiation
Keep playing with the advanced arpeggiator. Simply set the tempo, including dotted notes and triplets, and then select a mode. The Latch switch keeps the arpeggiator playing even when you take your hands off the keyboard. Each part of Xpand!2 features its own arpeggiator. Many parts, such as Action Pads and Loops, automatically activate the arpeggiator, as it’s an integral part of the sound.
Dynamic Effects Duo:
Xpand!2 features two independent effects processors with fifty studio-grade effects, from rich reverbs to the mind-blowing Chaos Delay. When you select a new effect type, Xpand!2 instantly changes the functions of the editing knobs, providing precise control over each effect. The output of FX1 can be connected to the input of FX2 for complex, cascading effects.
- Install the plugin.
- Place the content folder anywhere convenient (1.46 GB) and when launching the plugin, specify the location of the “Xpand2.big” file. That’s it!
- The distribution includes the “Xpand!2FactoryContent.msi” file, as the content was downloaded from the official website.
