True Analog Soul
At the heart of the HX-ODDY is the world’s first biphonic analog synthesizer, a powerful and expressive 3-octave keyboard instrument with a design inherited from the renowned 2500 and 2600 modular synthesizers. Featuring enormous configuration potential, cross-modulation of the oscillator and ARP 4023 SVF filters, ODDY explored a wide and unique sonic range, renowned for both its ability to emulate natural instruments and its exceptionally rich analog sound.
Portable Powerhouse
Debuting in 1972, it was ahead of its time, offering powerful functionality, superb analog sound, color-coded controls, preset patch panel overlays for easy programming, all in a small and portable form factor. Its unique sound quality and analogue character have made it a sought-after instrument, and although it has seen many modifications and reissues over the years, for us nothing compares to the original white Mk1, which we used exclusively when developing HX-ODDY.
The -X Hybrid Engine
Like all of our vintage instruments, HX-ODDY features deep hardware sampling, but it stands out in two important ways; the addition of two new layers of hardware wavetables and physically modelled filters, giving you a total of three layers of sampling to tweak, all with that analogue charm you know and love. Like the hardware we selected, this unique combination of features creates a powerful and compelling sonic instrument with incredible character.
Hardware Sound by Example
The sample-based wavetable oscillators in HX-ODDY give you completely new avenues to explore. Using the hardware across its entire range gives you more flexibility and nuance in the sound of a raw instrument than ever before. The best part is that you still get our top tier samples with handcrafted sounds lovingly crafted here at UVI.
