Born into a family of musicians, Diyana Vasileva, aka Goryanka, can’t help but excel in Bulgarian folk singing while also taking piano lessons. Step by step, winning one competition after another, both locally and internationally, she builds herself up, and the final recognition comes in the form of her acceptance into the Grammy Award-winning “The Secret of the Bulgarian Voices” choir. Another jewel in her crown is her membership in one of the most popular Bulgarian ethno groups, Oratnitsa. The nickname “Goryanka” was given to her by the world-famous Australian singer Lisa Gerrard from their concert with “The Secret of the Bulgarian Voices”.
