For many years, African djembe has always been an adornment of soundtracks and music around the world. Applying our sampling philosophy to the various instruments of the Djembe branch has produced very organic and fresh sounding results that, when combined with our X3M percussion engine, are simply enjoyable to play.
One of our main goals was to provide consistent looping for as many playing techniques as possible, so that we could write fast, yet smooth and realistic percussion sound arrangements. To do this, we carefully edited each sample from our 9 looping algorithms by hand and performed as many iterations as necessary, after thoroughly testing the articulation in a real compositing environment.
The recording took place in Sofia Session Studio, where we also recorded the previous X3M libraries to ensure smooth and easy layering.
The concept of this engine is quite simple – the keyboard range is divided into 12 zones to which you can assign different sounds. After creating a template of your choice, just plug and play – nothing else is needed!
In addition to this, the slider also allows you to tweak individual zones as well as an entire associated ensemble patch with different effects and mic positions. When combined with natural and organic recordings, you get maximum flexibility when it comes to sound.
After loading X3M Ensemble Builder, you automatically load all samples into the Samples directory. However, the instrument is designed in such a way that it actually keeps all samples unloaded unless you load them into the zone. This means that you not only have one patch with all the types of percussion you might need, but it is also optimized and will not harm your RAM resources in any way!
The newly updated X3M engine also features Round Robin Selection as well as Stereo Spread controls for each mic position.
