Crystal singing bowls. Known as meditative musical sounds of calm, the bowls we created for this instrument have a magical quality and radiate pure tones.
These quartz glass bowls produce such a rich and dreamy tone that we found it hard to put down the recording. We sampled 4 different sized bowls, ranging from 20cm to 25cm in diameter, by striking them with rubber-coated glass mallets. We also rubbed the mallets on the edges of the bowls to produce light and airy notes.
The samples presented here are so gorgeous and complex that the AMS microphone system we used to record them gives a completely different character to each of the different microphone positions. Try them out and see what you think of these spiritual sounds.
