Braids, created by the French pioneers Eurorack Mutable Instruments, is not an oscillator. It’s kind of like one, with fine and raw pitch / frequency controls, v / oct input, and voltage controlled tone / timbre controls. It even sounds like one as it outputs sound.
Mutable Instruments calls this a macro-oscillator, but even that’s an understatement. It is an extremely sophisticated digital synthesis engine, capable of creating and manipulating complex sounds with about 45 fully implemented synthesis algorithms, including multiple oscillators, wave tables, filters, VCAs, ring modulators, and more.
