Impulse Response Libraries – Classic Rock Essentials is based on a vintage British 4×12 cabinet, loaded and recorded in a way that conveys the atmosphere of the tones of rock guitar cabinets from the late 1960s – early 1980s.
In the golden age of analog recording, most albums were made with the entire band playing in the same room at the same time, and recorded through a mixing desk onto analog tape. This resulted in instruments leaking between microphones, and as for guitar tones, they produced a less direct sound than what became common after the digital revolution, with most instruments tracked separately and in complete isolation.
