Numerous sample libraries and virtual instruments have come and gone that proclaimed realism but fell far short of delivering on that promise. At best, they could be used to fill in a guitar part in pre-production mock-ups that would later need to be replaced with a real guitar performance. All were better buried in the mix than exposed.
Introducing Evolution Steel Strings, an acoustic guitar sample library that will change your perception of what is possible for MIDI-based guitar simulation.
Evolution Steel Strings represents a breakthrough in sampled acoustic guitar. No other acoustic guitar sample library or virtual instrument has achieved this level of realism. From individual notes to chord strokes, Evolution Steel Strings uses a combination of sampling, scripting, and physical modeling principles to give you a surprisingly easy-to-play KONTAKT sample library with results so realistic that you can confidently use them in final productions.
Evolution Steel Strings features the iconic Martin D16R steel string acoustic guitar, recorded in stereo with top-notch microphones and preamps at 24-bit, 48 kHz for the best tone and accuracy. While most acoustic guitar sample libraries are sampled using only one microphone, we used stereo microphones for a more natural tone, as well as adjustable stereo width. The superior construction of the guitar used resulted in minimal buzz, even on the hardest hits. (Buzz is a commonly cited issue with some popular acoustic guitar libraries for KONTAKT on the market.)
- Finger and pick articulations
- Individually sampled strings controlled by a string/fret selector with performance modeling
- Proprietary resonance engine for unrivaled realism
- Unique monophonic/polyphonic hybrid: play solos and chords in a single patch
- Alternate tunings that change not only the range of the instrument, but also the key of individual strings
- Legato articulations, including slides
- 4 circular repeats for realistic note playback
- 6.5 GB of samples (compressed to 3.4 GB using the lossless NCW audio format)
- NKS support
Added:
- Ability to lock individual settings and articulations, allowing you to switch snapshot presets without overwriting specific settings and mapped articulations. Old Lock Mapping setting removed. If this setting was used in existing projects, the new version will automatically switch them to use the individual locking options
- New Performance Effect Keys setting lets you control the range of keys mapped to performance effects
- Tooltips
Improved:
- Efficiency of the fretboard display
- Interval names in the pitch bend and legato range settings have been replaced with semitones
- Capo position now modulates the chord sound
- Open string legato mode now allows not only pull-offs to open strings, but also hammer-ons from open strings to higher notes on the fretboard
Fixed:
- A bug with dynamic memory when canceling a sustain articulation (try using one of the MIDI articulations, such as slide)
- A bug affecting the Velocity Slide articulation in combination with the sustain pedal pressed
