The Evolution Roundwound Bass is a vintage J-style electric bass guitar equipped with roundwound strings for a bright, crisp tone that cuts through the mix.
We developed this library in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah’s most respected recording studios. Guy Randle, owner and engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, uses a variety of analog audio equipment when recording, including a Neotek analog console, tube preamps, vintage compressors, and other classic analog gear. We provided not only a direct bass signal but also an enhanced signal that adds sharpness to the attack of notes and increases the richness and sustain of the bass.
The bass samples were performed by seasoned bassist Bill Cushenberry. Originally from Burbank, California, Bill’s musical career began early and has taken him around the world, including the United States. He has been a fixture on the live and studio scene in the Intermountain West for many years, including stints with the Osmond Brothers and Donny and Marie. He plays a variety of bass guitars, but this bass has been his favorite for over forty years.
