Evolution Django Jazz recreates the sound of virtuoso guitarist Django Reinhardt, a pioneer of the gypsy jazz style that emerged in Paris in the 1930s. The musicians of the time didn’t realize they were doing anything more than just jazz. What’s more, the resulting musical style later gained recognition as a distinct subgenre due to its unique qualities. One of these hallmarks was Django’s iconic guitar tone and his fluid, expressive playing, which have become virtually synonymous with his musical style.
The guitar we recorded for the sample library is a replica of Django’s Selmer 503 acoustic guitar. Crafted by a master guitarist, the replica was crafted in exacting detail, including details such as the zero fret, missing bottom bracket, and other Django-specific features that contribute to its unique sound.
We developed the library in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah’s most respected recording studios. Guy Randle, owner and engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, used analog audio equipment to expertly shape and enhance the guitar’s rich tonal qualities. Evolution Django Jazz includes both the recorded signal and an enhanced version.
Evolution Django Jazz is based on our Evolution engine, which offers a wealth of features: an innovative strumming pattern editor, automatic chord detection, and a vast collection of built-in effects for adding the finishing touches to your guitar sound. If you’ve used any of our guitar or bass libraries powered by the Evolution engine, its interface and workflow will be very familiar.
The library includes numerous ready-made presets, including specialized strumming patterns for jazz rhythm guitar.
