Fracture Sounds – Woodchester Piano 1.1.0 (KONTAKT)

A beautiful upright felt piano, developed in close collaboration with film and TV composer James Everingham (Frozen Planet 2 with Hans Zimmer, Heroes, Apollo: The Moon Missions). This is James’s personal piano, which we have sampled in great detail to share with composers around the world.

Woodchester Piano is the first instrument in our new series of collaborations with talented composers and artists, bringing you a range of carefully crafted virtual instruments full of personality. This library was created in close collaboration with film and TV composer James Everingham and features his Wilh. Steinberg German Series piano, recorded using a felt pedal.

Despite its rich and detailed sound, Woodchester Piano has an impressively small memory footprint and runs great on laptops and less powerful computers.

Captured in detail

We visited James’s studio and spent several days carefully testing every nuance of the instrument. We then spent many months mixing, polishing and fine-tuning the instrument, resulting in a stunning virtual piano with a beautiful, versatile sound that’s a joy to play.
Woodchester Piano also includes key and pedal samples, a unique pianist noise feature for adding subtle rustling and creaking sounds in the wood for increased realism, and adjustable color controls to customize the tone for your composition.

Atmosphere Layers

Woodchester Piano includes three layers of atmospheric sound design that pair beautifully with the raw piano.

• The “Ache” layer adds a smooth, hazy sustain – a marriage of reverb and pad.
• The “Dream” layer offers a more textured, shimmering sound.
• The “Clouds” layer adds a reverse granular delay effect that evolves over time.

These layers can be adjusted to taste using the layer mixer. Additionally, the global “intensity” of these layers can be controlled using the “Atmosphere Intensity” dial or automated in real time using the modulation wheel.
