Vela Woodwinds was born from the space between gravity and stillness, from the low breath of a clarinet refracted through starlight, silence and frozen movement.
ORIGIN STORY
The sound between the sea and the stars
Vela Woodwinds is born from the drift between gravity and stillness, from the quiet breath of the clarinet refracted in starlight, silence and frozen movement.
Where traditional woodwind libraries emphasize mobility, articulation and orchestral form, we turned to something slower, deeper: a meditation on tone as atmosphere. Inspired by the constellation Vela, which means “sail” in Latin, we created an instrument that does not play, but floats.
Using organic recordings of bass and contra clarinet as a foundation, we created evolving textures not through virtuosity, but through transformation. Thanks to our Infinite Motion Engine™ and Non-Static Sampling™ technology, Vela breathes without getting stuck, opening up new dimensions with every sustained note.
The resulting sound is neither classical nor ambient, but something weightless in between. A library that reimagines woodwinds as ships of sonic motion, drifting through the ocean depths and interstellar space.
Vela Woodwinds is for composers who seek movement rather than momentum, and for sound designers who can manipulate tension, isolation, and awe. Whether music for a dream, a slow-burning sci-fi film, or an experimental short film, this is a sound that hovers between the sea and the stars.
