Embertone – Walker 1955 Concert D v1.1 (KONTAKT)

Steinway D grand piano 9 feet long considered by many to be the pinnacle of piano making.
The instrument we sampled has a special replay system developed by Zenph. It was thanks to her that we recorded our samples with such precision!

All Pedal Combinations

We’ve captured all the possible playing options between sustain pedals, una corda pedals and no pedals.
The samples are beautiful even thanks to the “replay” technology this piano has!

Make it your own

You can easily bend this piano to your musical will! Our intuitive controls make it easy to switch between jazz, classical, film, pop and more.
Plus, you’ll find a whole page of easy ways to change the tone and feel of this majestic Steinway.

36 Velocities Per Note

We went crazy recording 36 velocities per set of samples (that is, for each pedal combination). Thanks to the tool’s exceptional precision, you get beautiful, smooth response from low to high speeds.
If you don’t want to load a billion samples, you can scale the tool to your desired speed level.

Over 10,000 realistic release samples!

Most virtual pianos have one static set of releases that are triggered the same way no matter how you play the note. Not this piano! You will hear a different release sample depending on how hard AND how long you play the note.
Especially with stronger notes, you will even feel a wonderful space to write in!

Special Staccato Samples

There’s something amazing about REAL staccato samples…the way the mechanism reacts and then creates a subtle sense of space.
That’s why we selected an unprecedented number of staccatos: 36 repetitions of X2 speed for each of the 88 notes!

6 Mic Positions

The default position is a nice set of closely related AKG C414s, followed by 5 more options with a wide variety of tone and feel.

Recently updated to v1.1

NEW FEATURES

  • Half Pedaling
You can now perform incremental dampening using a compatible pedal OR editing MIDI. This means you can partially “blur” tones and create more subtle phrasing… the pedal is no longer simply OFF and ON.
  • Silent Key Strikes
Enables non-hammered silent notes on the lowest velocity.
  • Sustain-Damper Sympathetic Resonance
A new sympathetic resonance engine to model the behavior of notes vibrating during the release of dampers on held notes, for realistically transitioning between Dry+Sustain articulations. 3 modes for selecting the quality of this feature are located within the Details page and share association with the Half-Pedaling engine.

UPDATES

  • Legacy Patches
Included Legacy patches for users with Kontakt 5.3.1+
  • DFD Adjustments
We modified the way samples are streamed from memory/disk, and also increased the voice count significantly. We removed the animation to aid in performance as well.
  • NKS
All Snapshots have been updated to reflect the new half pedaling features.

BUG FIX HIGHLIGHTS

  • Performance
    – Smoothed out velocities for better consistency (especially the lowest layers).
    – Fixed a pedaling issue caused by simultaneous note/pedal activation.
  • Misc.
    – Fixed various bad samples.
    – Fixed Reverb preset buttons from not working.
    – Fixed a graphical bug that caused label bg’s to display incorrectly.
