Duck is a creative volume control oscillator. Dedicated tool for creating sidechain effects and trance gates.
Devious Machines decided to make life easier for musicians who often use sidechain and trance gate effects. The new Devious Machines Duck plugin is intended for a more personal, yet simple sidechain application, and the developers themselves describe the plugin as “creatively controlling the volume of the low frequency oscillator.”
With Devious Machines Duck, users can draw custom sound volume shapes that will be applied to the signal at a selected rate and processing depth. Likewise, you can control the low and high frequencies by adjusting the crossover and how they affect each other. For an easier start, the plug-in includes eight waveform presets and 72 creative patches that alter the signal.
An audio signal at a third-party input or MIDI notes can serve as a source for activating the plug-in. The developers note that Duck can work both on individual tracks and on groups of channels, buses and even a master output. Thanks to the built-in mitigation algorithm, the plugin does not spoil the signal and can be used to eliminate clicks and other artifacts from audio content.
Devious Machines promise that the plug-in is absolutely not demanding on computer resources and does not load the processor during operation – you can apply Duck to dozens or even hundreds of individual channels within a project.
