Solo Cello. Studio Quartet Series: Deep Solo Cello marks a new leap in sampling for us. We recorded one of the greatest solo cellists of our time, principal cellist of the BBC and other orchestras, sampling 88 articulations in ultra-deep detail, ranging from true polyphonic legato to a multitude of short note variations, dozens of velocity arcs, twelve different ostinatos, and performance-based articulations.
Recorded in controlled studio conditions at Scotland’s leading recording studio, Gorbals Sound, the cello was captured in incredible detail and without compromise using dual-microphone technology. This combined method allows you to freely switch between the direct signal and a more spacious ambient space, giving you the ability to precisely control the position and distance of the cello.
Each of the included sound sets, broken down into 6 distinct categories, offers a wide range of features and performance styles, all easily accessible from the built-in browser. Deep Solo Cello features five individually recorded legato articulations, allowing you to play in a variety of styles and speeds, with or without a mute. Each of the performance-based legatos also features original musical colouring and dynamic changes, ensuring that the purity and realism of a live performance is accurately preserved. With 88 independently recorded, multi-dynamic and authentic-sounding articulations, you have access to all the mechanisms you need to create music that goes beyond realism.

Deep Solo Cello offers an extensive collection of fully tempo-synced patterns and short phrases, including smooth portato passages, detaches, measured tremolos and more. The Performance category features several phrases: Tuplet, Triplet, Swing and Jete (Ricochet), all with different dynamics and circular repetitions.

Along with traditional orchestral articulations, Deep Solo Cello dives into the more esoteric, exciting and imaginative universe of solo strings. We have also included the deep range of muted Con Sordino articulations with many short notes, dynamic bows, crescendos and smooth true legato.
